FAQ – Activities & Parents

Q: What about other activities?
A: The troop plans one weekend activity, such as a campout, per month.
During the summer, we expect there will be a week-long camp or high adventure trip, chosen by the Scouts.

Q: What are the expectations for parents?

A: Parent involvement is encouraged! The meetings are youth-led and part of the purpose of Scouting is to turn
youth into leaders. However, there are many opportunities where parents are needed, such as drivers to activities, or
committee members, merit badge counselors, or helpers at meetings. Whatever your skills or availability, we
would appreciate any help. We expect every family to volunteer in some way during the year. Parents who work at
Microsoft or Boeing or other companies that have a matching program are encouraged to turn in volunteer hours
to support the troop. We rely on matching funds to keep the dues to a reasonable level, while still allowing us to
have awesome activities! Committee meetings (currently via Zoom) are at 7 pm one Sunday per month
and are open to interested parents to attend.
